Kris Cano

Kris Cano is the Director of the Forensic Services Division for the Scottsdale Police Department in Arizona which includes a full-service crime laboratory, crime scene response unit, digital forensics unit, and a property and evidence warehouse. Kris who has more than 27 years of forensic experience, including 20 years with the City of Scottsdale, specializing in supporting the investigations and the criminal justice system. Kris has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of South Florida. She serves the community as the governance chair for one n ten, a nonprofit organization that supports LGBTQ youth. Kris is a member of American Academy of Forensic Sciences Standards Board where she chairs a committee on the development of technical and professional standards for forensic DNA analysis. She has served on many other boards and organizations in the local and forensic community including American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors and Scottsdale Leadership and is proud member of class 33. She has been married for 3 years and has two children, one who is 19 and a student at Arizona State University and one who is a junior at Saguaro High School.
