Holly Amend

I started my professional life in the arts world as a freelance classical musician, working to open the hearts of students and listeners to the beauty of sound and shared experience. I also participated in several organizations on the administrative side including for-profit and non-profit, immersing myself in the music world in my home town of Spokane, Washington. When circumstances moved me to Colorado, my life and career changed direction. Although I was still playing music in various community groups, my main source of income, and ultimately my attention and interest, moved into specialty running retail and within that context, leadership and store management.

Through life I’ve come up against challenges as a female (try playing an instrument where the first response you get is “I would have never guessed! You don’t see very many women playing trombone.”), been inspired by many strong women, and been fortunate to be around many wonderful people who have respected and valued my views. The opportunities I’ve been given eventually brought me to Scottsdale in 2019 and I’ve grown to love this area and community.

My vision for myself is constant movement toward a happier, more balanced life. What motivates me is helping others find their own best life. What inspires me is connection with genuine, positive, optimistic people. I hope my contribution to the Women’s Collective will help move myself and others along this path, as an outlet for giving back and uplifting each other.
